Tragic Crash Claims Life of Passenger in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE (Queen City News) — A fatal accident occurred on East Independence Blvd early Tuesday morning, resulting in the death of a passenger. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department reported that the vehicle collided with an overhead sign support beam.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the 3800 block of East Independence Blvd at approximately 5:45 AM in response to a single-vehicle crash.

Sadly, the front right seat passenger, identified as 22-year-old Wilmer Noe Aguilera Lopez, was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. The driver, a 19-year-old individual, was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

According to the authorities, the fatal crash occurred as the two individuals were traveling west on East Independence in a 2005 Chevrolet Express Van. The van veered off the right side of the road after hitting a curb and subsequently collided with an overhead sign support beam.

Preliminary investigations have indicated that neither speed nor impairment played a role in the incident.
