Authorities are investigating after a girl in the Hunter region of Boolaroo was fatally stabbed Monday. At around 3.45 pm today, emergency services were dispatched to a residence on Thurston Street, Boolaroo, located roughly 20km west of Newcastle, in response to reports of a stabbing. Paramedics from the New South Wales Ambulance provided medical assistance to a 10-year-old girl who had sustained several stab wounds. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, she could not survive and passed away at the location of the incident.
A 17-year-old girl was apprehended by officers from Lake Macquarie Police District at her residence. She was subsequently transported to Belmont Police Station and is presently cooperating with the ongoing investigation. It is assumed that both girls are acquainted with each other. An investigation is ongoing and a crime scene has been formed. No charges have been filed.
The demise of the girl has profoundly shaken the tightly-knit community. Another inhabitant informed the Newcastle Herald that the occurrence of something so dreadful in their locality was completely unexpected. Unbeknownst to others, the situation remained unnoticed until the sound of several blaring sirens disrupted the often tranquil roadway.
